A Good Cause

Hey everybody,

Well the unthinkable has happened.  I (Blake) am a fan of rap.  Well not really, not most of it anyway.  I am really only a fan of a small group of Christian rappers who I think are amazing.  It isn't the music that draws me to the music but the words and lyrics that the guys are using.  This is some of the most Biblical and doctrinally sounded Christian music I have heard.  The best thing thing about it to me is that they are taking the Gospel of Christ and contextualizing it in a good way to get the message out in a new and innovative way that the church has not really done thus far.  From what I have read, these guys all have a true heart for God and want to see others come to know Him.  Some of them actually want to be pastors in churches in the future.

All this is an intro for what I would like to write about. One of the guys, Katalyst, is making a rap album that parallels John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress.  It isn't just an album though.  A graphic novel is being created to help tell the story as well as some music videos to further it along.  He is using several different forms of media and art to give this story in a modern telling.  The problem is, he needs help funding it.  I have come to respect this group of guys and what they are doing because they are speaking truth into a culture that the white church doesn't know how to speak to.  Their hearts are for where they came from.  A link is provided below that gives more information.  They are also asking for funding from people to help this project move along.  I would like to encourage you all to think about it and donate money.  Heather and I gave some because we believe in what he is doing.  My hope is by me spreading the word of this project, others will want to sponsor it to help spread the Word of God.
