Our New World

Wow! I actually have a second to update how our family of four is doing... Free time in this 'new world' doesn't really exist. I'm hoping that I'll have a little more time now that we've moved and settled into our new home, but no promises. :)

We absolutely LOVE our new home! It's perfect for our family and we are very thankful. Our neighborhood is amazing and we could not ask for more. We have seven houses in a row (us in the middle) of families with LOTS of children, most of them age 3 or 4. It's so wonderful for Evie to have so many new friends already. It's a great learning experience for all of them and fun for all of us parents to watch them all interact together. The tough part is getting Evie to realize that she can't be outside playing with all of them ALL day long .;) It's been great for me, too, meeting some really neat mom's. One of the mom's, Lisa, and I have already decided that we are going to switch off taking care of each other's kids once a week to allow for us and our hubbies to have date nights. I'm really excited!

The city of Portland is beautiful, just like we knew it would be. We've had fun learning the area; finding our new grocery stores, farmer's markets, churches, etc. We've only visited one church so far for the past couple of weeks and we plan to attend there for at least the next couple of weeks. It's a new church-plant called Endeavor that began one year ago. It's relatively small, but the people are really great. There are a few kids for Evie to play with, but not many. However, a church has to start somewhere and we just might one of the first families to join. We're definitely praying and seeing. We are in no rush, but this church is really drawing our attention at the moment and we'd like to give it a real chance before moving on. :) The Lord will direct us where He wants us.

Blake got a part-time job on campus with campus security. He just finished his training last night and he'll be working three graveyard shifts a week, Friday, Sunday and Monday mornings. It'll be a little tough to transition, but we're so used to him doing shift-work it won't throw for a loop too much. We're very thankful that he was able to find something so fast, and it's SO convenient that it's right on campus, a 2-minute walk from our house. He is currently at the job fair on campus to try and find another 16-hour/week job, but if not, we'll make do with what he has for now.

Jack is doing well, too. We're still dealing with his acid reflux, which is no fun, but we're surviving. He's completely switched over to formula now and his tummy finally seems better. We are switching back to the first meds we had him on since it was a little stronger and the stuff he's on now just isn't working like we need it to. He sleeps pretty well, only waking up a couple of times at night. Blake has helped me out quite a bit and I'm always grateful to get a little more sleep. Jack is a happy and content baby when he's not dealing with the acid reflux and has really started to smile and 'talk' a lot lately. It's so much fun watching Evie and Jack interact with each other, as much as they can.;)

We're excited to see what God is going to do with us here in Portland, Oregon.
