Blake has officially begun the graveyard shift, which he will be on until Jack is born. Luckily for all of us, that's only a couple of months away! :) Blake's new shift is Friday-Tuesday: 11pm - 7am, with Wednesdays and Thursdays being his days off. It's going to take some time for Blake to adjust to sleeping during the day, especially now that it is starting to warm up (finally!). Hopefully, his body will adjust well and he'll be able to get home by 7:30am and sleep until 3pm, or so.
I have been majorly spoiled by the fact that Blake has gotten up with Evie most mornings for the past month or so. My life has drastically changed. I now have to get up with Evie when she wakes up around 7am so Blake can sleep, which means I have to be very consistent with going to bed by 10pm at the very latest. These days, I don't make it through the day without 9-10 hours of sleep. Evie refuses to take naps anymore, so I don't have the opportunity to sleep during the day if I don't get the sleep I need at night.
Meanwhile, I'm trying to figure out how to keep Evie busy and happy while Blake sleeps during the day. Our home is quite small, so if she's not happy, it makes it VERY difficult for Blake to stay asleep. Back in our TV days, I would just put on a movie for Evie to watch and that would keep her occupied for a couple of hours. But now I have to actually think of things to do with her. LOL! Today, she helped me clean up the house, do three loads of laundry, and sort through pinto beans to make refried beans. She such a great helper/cleaner!
In other news, Jack is growing by leaps and bounds! He is still measuring a tiny bit smaller than average, but our Dr. says he's just perfect. He is SO strong... Blake was able to witness what I mean by 'strong' a couple of nights ago when Jack was flip-flopping around in my tummy. I think even Blake was quite shocked! I'm 31 weeks and 1 day, so we're less than 9 weeks away... I HOPE!!! I'm feeling okay most of the time. My lower back pain continues to worsen the farther along I get, but I'm learning to manage the pain... and sleep with mountains of pillows, one positive to Blake's graveyard shift and me getting the entire bed to myself! ;)
