Get-Away

Last Wednesday, we drove down to Phoenix for a few days. Blake and I dropped Evie off at his parent's house and he and I headed to Scottsdale for a couple of nights by ourselves. We wanted to get away for a night or two before Jack made his arrival. It was exactly what I needed. We stayed at the Scottsdale Cottonwoods Resort and spent two days relaxing together, went to see a couple of movies, and ate really great food. The resort was comfortable and under crowded since we were there in the middle of the week. We enjoyed food at Old Spaghetti Factory (always amazing), Fuddruckers (first time I've eaten there and it TOTALLY satisfied my hamburger craving), Baja Fresh (first time eating here, also, and their carnitas was delicious), and TGI Friday's Front Row at Chase Field before a surprisingly interesting D-Back's game hanging out with one of our married couples. We watched 'Shutter Island' at the dollar theater at Superstition Springs Mall and we also saw 'Shrek Forever After' after walking around Scottsdale Fashion Square. Thank you Blake for making sure we got our few days away before life gets crazier. I love hanging with you. :)

Friday, we joined up with Blake's family for Blake's brother Jake's High School Graduation. He graduated that evening and received a couple of awards at the Sports Banquet and Academy Awards Ceremony. We're very proud of him. He's planning on staying in Phoenix to work and will take a few classes at Mesa Community College.

Saturday, we did a lot of walking around and shopping with the family. Evie received lots of new clothes from all the grandparents. Evie had a great time staying with Grandma, Gramps, Mimi and Jake. :) We drove home Sunday afternoon after church and Olive Garden.

All the walking around Phoenix caused me to have some pretty intense Braxton Hicks contractions for a couple of days... I'm still taking it easy. Walking from one room to the next, especially walking upstairs, causes these 'practice' contractions and it's quite exhausting. So, I'm not doing much movement right now. My back has also been causing me more issues, but since I'm taking it slow anyway, I'm hoping that will help. I am 34 weeks tomorrow, so we're hitting around 6 weeks before Jack is born and I'm confident I can handle the pregnancy for that much longer... just not much more. :) I won't be leaving Flagstaff again until Jack is here. We have everything as prepared for him as possible at this point and that's always a relief. I'm both physically and mentally prepared for his arrival.

We found out we got the 2-bedroom house we were hoping for on campus at Multnomah University. However, it won't be available for us to move into until August 21st, so our moving schedule has moved back a few weeks. I'm thankful to have a couple more weeks with Jack here before flying up to Portland and making the big move.

Needless to say, I'm SO ready to meet this over-active little Jack and make our move up to the gorgeous Northwest!
