Homemade Laundry Detergent

We've decided to switch over to homemade laundry detergent powder. One, because it really does save quite a bit of money. Two, because it's very comparable to the name brand detergents, without using as many chemicals. And three, because it gives me something to do. :)

Recipe:
1 C. grated Fels Naptha, Zote or other regular bar soap
1/2 C. Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda
1/2 C. Borax

*Use 2 Tablespoons per load, adding more for more soiled clothes.

We first started using homemade laundry detergent when my friend brought me some extra she had made. We fell in love with it! It works great, smells wonderful and lasts so much longer than the Gain Detergent we'd used for so long. We also opted for the powder laundry detergent verses the liquid. The powder can be stored in small mason jars compared to the liquid being stored in large used detergent bottles. I prefer to save space. :) We're very excited about making our own detergent and plan to make as many cleaning products as we can. I will post the products we make as we figure them out.
