ByeBye TV
So... we've decided to get rid of our TV/DVD/VCR completely. We've been slowly lessening the amount of movies we own and we haven't had cable in over a year, so it won't be too much of a shock. I, personally, have never liked the fact that the focus of the living room is on the TV, especially when we don't even use it that much... Well, I guess I should rephrase that. Blake and I don't use it much. Evie, on the other hand, LOVES her movies. She has many Pixar and Disney movies and her educational movies are increasing. Over the past year, the amount of time she spends in front of the TV has increased greatly. However, I've been really working hard the past month or so to limit her movie-watching time. We've been finding other activities such as playing with Play-Doh, coloring, reading, playing with toys, etc. to keep her happy and busy. It's been very tough, though, especially with as much snow has been on the ground outside, severely limiting the amount of outside playtime. So, Blake and I have decided since Evie isn't as 'addicted' to the TV as she was, we are just going to get rid of it all. Evie and I are driving to California with my mom for my sister's bridal shower this weekend and Blake is going to use our time away to 'make the TV disappear' without causing too much freaking out on Evie's part. ;) I really think she'll do very well. And we are keeping a few of the movies she's grown so attached to so that she can occasionally watch them on the laptop. I'm excited to get the TV, etc. out of our house and rearrange our furniture. :) I'm loving simplicity!
