My 5 'Sense'

I am 'borrowing' this from a friend's blog. These are just a few of my best 5 "sense" that I have gained from my personal experience as a homemaker.

("borrowed" this from her blog too!)

#1 God's Grace:

The only way I make it from day to day is by God's grace. The goal is to remember that grace is a gift that's already been given... I just need to let go and realize I can't ever earn it and will never deserve it. That's a whole lot of pressure that I can let go of. God is amazing!

#2 Sleep:

I'm one of those people who would sleep an entire day away without realizing how much time had passed. I either have to set an alarm or Evie wakes me up by yelling "Mommy, open the door, please!" through her monitor that's positioned next to my ear. She's learned quickly that she has to be loud in order to wake me from my corpse-like sleep. I've NEVER had an easy time waking up, especially if I get less than 8-9 hours of sleep. I don't think that will ever change... I keep hoping one day it will just change and I'll wake up easily at 6 a.m. lol! However, I've realized that I just need my sleep and am a MUCH more joyful wife and mommy when I've received the most amount of sleep as is possible with a 2 1/2 year old, VERY active (morning!) daughter.

#3 Time Alone with Hubby:

I'm learning to make spending quality time with my husband a priority in my life. I didn't realize until recently (since Evie was born) that Blake and my 'quality' time has become few and far between. We have to work to make it happen, whether it means I stay up a few extra hours when Blake gets home from work, driving to his work for a couple of hours, or getting a babysitter to watch Evie so we can just have a few moments of downtime. These times are usually the most meaningful times for me and allows me to reconnect with my best friend.

#4 Planned Meals & Organization:

Most of our meals are planned out two weeks in advance. We do one big grocery shopping trip, hitting all the sales, then make the meals as we need them. This is helpful so that we don't eat out as often, because there are meals that need to be eaten (and I hate waste). I also only plan meals that we love. There's absolutely no sense in cooking a meal that we feel we have to force ourselves to eat, even if it is cheap to make. Organization is also key to keeping me sane while spending so many hours at home. Everything we've gotten out or played with during the day is picked up and put away at the end of the day. That way, we wake up to a home that has some order. This doesn't mean that the floors are mopped and the furniture is dusted (very rarely does this happen), but it does mean that I have a sense of orderliness in my home which also makes me a joyful wife and mommy.

#5 Girlfriends:

I NEED my girlfriends. They are a MUST! Most of my friends have children around the same age as Evie, so this makes planning time to hang out fairly easy. We usually do lunches while the kids can play, then nap. I also love my Bible Study time. Evie LOVES playing in the nursery with all of her friends, while I LOVE spending time with my lovely ladies while searching the heart of the Lord. These friends are the friends that keep me sane amongst the insanity of life.
