We love sushi. And when I say 'we', I mean all three of us. Evie will try any new food, especially exotic, that we give her... and she ends up loving it! We have a favorite sushi place here in Flagstaff (Hiro's) and we went there for lunch today. Evie usually just plays with her own set of chopsticks. However, today she decided that she wanted to try and use them correctly... just like Mommy and Daddy use them to eat their sushi. It was amazing to see her put so much effort into holding them correctly and even getting those pieces of barbecued squid she loves so much into her mouth.
I believe that the moments that mean the most and stick with me the longest are these moments where I am privileged to experience Evie growing in knowledge and figuring herself out. It is incredible to be able to 'see' her brain spinning and the faces she makes as she learns the world around her. I'm grateful for the time that I have been given to witness every step of Evie's development into the person she is becoming.
Now, just to be completely honest, Evie did not actually use the chopsticks the correct way. Instead she figured out how to stab the squid with the tip of the chopstick, and then put the chopstick directly into her mouth. Nevertheless, she has found her unique way of using chopsticks that ultimately gets the job done.
